2016 Coyote Contest Results!
The Federation of Sportsmenís Clubs of Sullivan County held their 9th annual statewide 3-day Coyote Contest Feb. 5, 6 & 7. 508 hunters participated in the hunt and brought in 71 coyotes. 25 coyotes were taken on Friday, 26 on Saturday & 20 on Sunday for a total of 34 males & 37 females.
Gary Krantz of Callicoon hunting in Sullivan County brought in the heaviest coyote a 49.3 lb. male. Gary used a .222 cal. rifle. Garyís coyote earned him $2,000 for the heaviest and $200 for the heaviest taken on Sunday.
Gary Huebner of Monticello took the heaviest coyote on Friday a 48.2 lb. male. Gary used a 7mm.08 rifle and earned $200 for his coyote.
Jim Kerwin of Burlington Flats, NY hunting in Otsego County took the heaviest on Saturday a 43.3 lb. male. Jim used a .17 cal. rifle and also earned $200 for his coyote.
The heaviest coyote taken by a female hunter was Melissa Pashley of Unadilla, NY who took a 41.6 lb. male. Melissa earned $200 that included $100 for the coyote and a $100 for the heaviest coyote taken by a female hunter.
The heaviest coyote taken by a youth hunter was Logan Cossack of Parksville for a 42.35 lb. male. Logan used a 12 ga. shotgun. Logan also won a Mossberg .22 cal. semi-auto rifle donated by Fur-Fin & Feathers Sport Shop in Livingston Manor.

On Sunday February 7th everyone in the contest and pre-paid guests were invited to the Coyote Banquet. President of the Federation Jack Danchak was the emcee and welcomed all to the 9th annual Coyote Banquet. Prizes galore were raffled off including the popular Teddy Bear & a Davey Crockett hat made of genuine coyote fur.
Four prizes on the gun raffle were raffled off and Mike Edwards from Downsville, NY won a Mossberg model 535 Camo 12 ga. shotgun. Lynn Dowe of Ferndale, NY won a Savage Axis .223 cal. with scope and hard case. Forever Wild Water & Woods Hunting Club of Monticello won a .50 cal. muzzleloader with scope and accessory kit and a 175 lb. crossbow package & kit was won by Logan Cossack of Parksville.
President Danchak thanked the Coyote Committee for another excellent job, thanked the White Sulphur Springs Firemen for serving a delicious roast beef dinner and thanked everyone for entering the contest and coming to the Coyote Banquet.
